Help create a magical forest of lanterns for Swindon Winter Fest!
Drop into Swindon Hub and craft a beautiful star or tree lantern from willow and tissue paper to help transform the former Argos store on Canal Walk into an indoor wonderland: The Magical Lantern Forest: A Winter’s Tale.
Your creations will join a luminous glade of handcrafted lanterns, all made by local children, community groups, artists, and families just like yours.
We’ll provide all the materials, and our friendly artists will guide you through the process. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy, as things can get a little sticky!
Recommended for ages 5+ with close parental supervision.
Please allow at least 1 hour to make your lantern - we suggest arriving by 12pm to make sure you have enough time.

What age group is the activity suitable for?
Willow lantern-making is suitable for ages 5 and up, as long as a parent or guardian is on hand to closely supervise and lend a hand.
Can I take my lantern home?
The lanterns made at this workshop will be part of a Magical Lantern Forest art display, alongside hundreds more made by local artists, school children, community groups and families, so you won't be able to take it home with you. However, we'd love you to come and see your creation at the Magical Lantern Forest in 19 Canal Walk (former Argos) during the 28th & 29th of November or 4th, 5th & 6th of December
