In May 2021, a UK Home Office dawn raid triggers one of the most spontaneous and successful acts of civil resistance in recent memory. In Pollokshields, Scotland’s most diverse neighbourhood, hundreds of residents rush to the streets to stop the deportation of their neighbours.
Showcasing the power of community action against increasingly totalitarian immigration policies, this documentary from director Felipe Bustos Sierra and Sundance winner offers hope in a particularly difficult time, reflecting how important the strength of togetherness is for inspiring and instilling change in our society.
This film is screening in partnership with Stand Up to Racism, and we will be joined by a guest speaker who will introduce the film and lead the Q&A. We will also be donating our takings from the bar to Stand Up to Racism.
This film is also part of our newest strand, Stories of Home, in partnership with the BFI. Stories of Home will showcase films that explore the medium’s potential to bring communities together and allow us to create a welcoming and inclusive space, encouraging connection with others.

How do I get there?
By car: Please follow the parking instructions in 'Where do I park'. By train: Once you have exited the main entrance at Swindon Station, turn right and keep walking straight onwards to London Street, for approx 5 minutes, past the Workshed. Create Studios is on your right.
Where do I park?
The closest parking is in Bristol Street Car Park (6 Bristol St, Swindon SN1 5EQ). Please note this is a pay-to-park and does form into a bus lane by the Mechanics Institute. Once you have parked, walk back down the entrance ramp and turn left onto London Street, or enter through the back.
Is there disabled access?
Yes, we have an accessible lift for anyone to use - the entrance door on London Street is also ground level. We are also attached to Bristol If you have any other accessibility needs please feel free to get in touch with us!
Is this a photographed event?
There may be photography for community and outreach purposes. If you would not like to be photographed, please inform one of the team upon your arrival.
