In the early 1980s, a group of lesbian and gay activists band together to raise money for the families of those affected by the British miners’ strike. Punctuated by the iconic sound of the time, Pride offers an evocative portrait of two worlds against an establishment hell-bent on crushing individuality amongst the working class, and what solidarity can look like when we look beyond difference.
We will also be hosting a zine workshop beforehand the film, showcasing the power of print media as a vehicle for self-expression, protest and culture for youth.
This screening is part of Rip It Up, a UK-wide season celebrating British youth culture on screen, made possible thanks to National Lottery Good Cause funding through the BFI Film Audience Network.

How do I get there?
By car: Please follow the parking instructions in 'Where do I park'. By train: Once you have exited the main entrance at Swindon Station, turn right and keep walking straight onwards to London Street, for approx 5 minutes, past the Workshed. Create Studios is on your right.
Where do I park?
The closest parking is in Bristol Street Car Park (6 Bristol St, Swindon SN1 5EQ). Please note this is a pay-to-park and does form into a bus lane by the Mechanics Institute. Once you have parked, walk back down the entrance ramp and turn left onto London Street, or enter through the back.
Is there disabled access?
Yes, we have an accessible lift for anyone to use - the entrance door on London Street is also ground level. We are also attached to Bristol If you have any other accessibility needs please feel free to get in touch with us!
Is this a photographed event?
There may be photography for community and outreach purposes. If you would not like to be photographed, please inform one of the team upon your arrival.
Will there be soft drinks and snacks available for purchase?
Yes! We have a bar at the back of our cinema, stocked with soft drinks, alcoholic beverages and snacks.
