Step into the beautiful Walled Garden at Lydiard Park this September for a celebration that’s perfect for families, food lovers, and plant enthusiasts alike.

Discover Lydiard’s remarkable collection of heritage apple varieties – ranging from the Golden Knob to Colonel Vaughan. Sample these rare apples and enjoy apple-themed games the whole family can join in with.

The event shines a light on Lydiard Park’s historic apple tree collection within its 18th Century Walled Garden. These remarkable varieties predate the 1740s and have been meticulously trained into goblet shapes under the guidance of Head Gardener Andy Dyer and his dedicated team.

A free art exhibition by Billy Beaumont will be on display in the Coach House Activity Centre from Wednesday 23rd to Sunday 27th September, 11am – 3pm.

Plus, bags of freshly picked heritage apples will be available in the garden’s pop-up shop, alongside exclusive Lydiard cider and delicious treats.

Apples are just the beginning. The Walled Garden also nurtures trained pear, greengage, peach, plum, cherry, apricot, and fig trees grace the space, alongside historic and locally cultivated flowering plants. The Lydiard Park gardening team employs traditional, organic methods to nurture and preserve these plants, creating a haven for wildlife, including butterflies and bees.

This event is held in collaboration with The Friends of Lydiard Park.

Car parking is available at Hay Lane and Hook Street entrances.

Please note: parking charges apply.
