We have a summer bursting with family activities here at Museum & Art Swindon!

Creative drop-in

Every Wednesday and Saturday

Drop-in to the Activity Space between 10.45am and 4pm. Choose one of the craft activities and enjoy creating together as a family. Suitable for all ages. No booking necessary.

Clay Day

Tuesday 28th July and Tuesday 18th August

Make a Fairy House from Clay – 10.45am-11.45am – ages 5-13 - £5.

Beneath the Surface: clay workshop for young people – 2.15pm- 3.15pm – ages 13+. Suitable for beginners upwards. £5 (visit our website to book)

Be inspired by our Beneath the Surface ceramics exhibition and learn to create your own masterpiece from clay to take home, using techniques and ideas from the exhibition.

Adventures in Art

Friday 31st July

Part of the SIGNAL Youth Arts Festival 10.45am to 4pm – drop-in – FREE.

A range of creative activities for all ages:

Be inspired by our art galleries and explore the ‘How You See Me’ portraiture exhibition. Try our Art Trail or get busy at one of the Creative Activity Stations around the building. Dress-up as a living portrait, create a Lego portrait, or get creative with our giant sculpture kit!

In the Activity Space, try journal-making or experiment with art materials to create your own portrait at the Creation Station. Try out different drawing, collage and painting materials to create your own masterpiece.

Tuesday 11th August

Drop-in – 11am to 2pm - £2 – suitable for all ages.

Try out a range of art materials and learn some tips for creating your own portrait. Try collage, painting, drawing or even Lego!

Sharing Stories Trail:

Explore the ways humans have shared stories & ideas over 5,000 years.

Museum opening hours. No booking necessary. Suitable for ages 5+.

Story Stations:

Search for ten story stations around the Museum and explore books linked to the museum collections. Relax on a bean-bag at the Discovery Station and dive into one of the books, or have a go at writing your own story. Museum opening hours. No booking necessary. Suitable for all ages
